Welcome to The First Tee of Greater Kansas City's website.

The First Tee of Greater Kansas City is a youth development organization teaching young people positive values such as honesty, integrity, sportsmanship and confidence while using the game of golf as a tool. The First Tee lessons are taught at five area learning centers and through in-school programs. National independent research has proven that 78% of our participants are learning and using life skills such as goal setting, interpersonal communication, self-management and resistance skills. Perhaps most importantly, many of our participants are receiving college scholarships and career opportunities because of their involvement with The First Tee. All money raised in Kansas City stays here to help local programs. You can help by contributing or volunteering to The First Tee of Greater Kansas City.

If you are interested in how a boy or girl may participate in one of our programs explore "Our Programs". If you desire to become a Sustaining Partner - and we hope you will - we invite you to click on the left to learn more "About Us".

The Junior Golf Foundation of Greater Kansas City is a Missouri not-for-profit Corporation with an IRS 501 (c) (3) designation and is the legal name of The First Tee of Greater Kansas City.

In 2011, The First Tee is introducing a new component to The Life Skills Experience, The First Tee's Nine Healthy Habits.  Recognizing a child's development as more than skills, whether golf skills or life skills.  The First Tee has teamed with the Annika Foundation and created The Nine Healthy Habits that address emotional and social well being in addition to physical health.

Here is link to more information about The Nine Healthy Habits.

Here is a link to a terrific article on pgatour.com in which Champions Tour players discuss The Nine Healthy Habits.

  More than Just a Game
Here's why golf is more than just a game: It's a Character builder.

"The game of golf comes closest to the game of life. You get bad breaks from good shots, you get good breaks from bad shots—but you have to play the ball where it lies." ...Bobby Jones

"As kids learn to play the game, golf's basic rule of playing the course as you find it and the ball as it lies is bound to follow them off the course and into how they lead their daily lives." ...Tom Watson

THE COURSE is yours to enjoy...You're on the first tee...So, Play Away!
