Welcome to The First Tee of Greater Kansas City's website.

The First Tee of Greater Kansas City is a youth development organization teaching young people positive values such as honesty, integrity, sportsmanship and confidence while using the game of golf as a tool. The First Tee lessons are taught at five area learning centers and through in-school programs. National independent research has proven that 78% of our participants are learning and using life skills such as goal setting, interpersonal communication, self-management and resistance skills. Perhaps most importantly, many of our participants are receiving college scholarships and career opportunities because of their involvement with The First Tee. All money raised in Kansas City stays here to help local programs. You can help by contributing or volunteering to The First Tee of Greater Kansas City.

If you are interested in how a boy or girl may participate in one of our programs explore "Our Programs". If you desire to become a Sustaining Partner - and we hope you will - we invite you to click on the left to learn more "About Us".

The Junior Golf Foundation of Greater Kansas City is a Missouri not-for-profit Corporation with an IRS 501 (c) (3) designation and is the legal name of The First Tee of Greater Kansas City.

This year's Watson Challenge is scheduled for June 8th-10th at Indian Hills Country Club.  The First Tee of Greater Kansas City is the big winner of this event.  The Watson Challenge has donated well over $150,000 to The First Tee.  Twenty of the best Midwest PGA professionals and 20 of the best local amateur players and seven special invitees will try to wrest the trophy from Tom this year.  Our money is on Tom.

The First Tee will once again need volunteers to help staff the hospitality/ticket sales booth at the event.  We encourage parents and kids to sign up together by contacting Ellen Hoeper at ehoeper@thefirstteekc.org. Each shift is about 2 and 1/2 hours. We need to show our appreciation to the members of Indian Hills and Mr. Watson, so sign up to help today.

  More than Just a Game
Here's why golf is more than just a game: It's a Character builder.

"The game of golf comes closest to the game of life. You get bad breaks from good shots, you get good breaks from bad shots—but you have to play the ball where it lies." ...Bobby Jones

"As kids learn to play the game, golf's basic rule of playing the course as you find it and the ball as it lies is bound to follow them off the course and into how they lead their daily lives." ...Tom Watson

THE COURSE is yours to enjoy...You're on the first tee...So, Play Away!
